HOT SPRINGS — Earle’s Marcus Brown made a statement.
Nobody from East Poinsett County could do anything about it, either.
The Bulldogs got 30 points from Brown and used an opportunistic defense that never let the Warriors get into a rhythm to take a 68-48 win in the Class 2A state championship game.
Earle jumped out to a 17-11 lead in the first quarter, then pushed the margin to 32-24 at halftime.
After three periods, the Bulldogs led 45-33 and they didn’t let up in the final quarter, out-scoring EPC 23-15 for the final margin.
Behind Marcus Brown’s 30, Donte Garrett added 11. Billy Murray had eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.
J’Sebian Brown had 15 to lead the Warriors, Xzavier Reed and Clay Malone each added 10.
